The Cloud is a complex and fast-expanding market. In 2018, 40 billion dollars is the sum that spending on platform and infrastructure in the Cloud is expected to exceed, according to estimates by Goldman Sachs, which represents 4 times more than in 2013. AWS remains the best placed to meet this demand, holding 28% of the market, ahead of Microsoft or IBM in 2014, according to the Synergy Research institute.

On the front line of technology

Amazon Web Services has had no qualms about displaying its confidence and its ambition regarding the future. The group’s communication has focused on reinforcing its image as leader. Despite the concern regarding China and the advance of local players, AWS’s market share is growing rapidly.

Where the strength of AWS lies is that the big companies are trying to copy the work built by the Amazon group. These players are very different, they offer fewer services, fewer features.

The AWS company retains this desire to innovate and to keep its DNA alive. It opens its solution to the market’s major software publishers in order to become the benchmark in terms of MarketPlace. VMware, the leader in virtualisation, having itself decided to continue the development of its Cloud on AWS.

The future of the Cloud is taking shape

AWS presents itself as the safest alternative for the future of the Cloud. Certainly reinforced in the future by the democratisation of the Hybrid Cloud. The battle over PaaS and IaaS is likely to be won by the giant AWS, which fully intends to innovate further and to meet the ever more complex needs of its clients.

Amazon Web Services is set to become the major player in the Cloud market.
